Google Ads is updating its security by removing passwords and adding passkeys to access sensitive areas of the platform (like Billing.)
If you run Google Ads, you may have received an email notification asking you to create your passkey.
Here is a part of the update directly from Google:
Google is transitioning to a more secure, password-free future. Set up a Google passkey today to keep your account secure and avoid any disruptions to your Google Ads account. Starting August 19th 2026, a Google passkey will be required for performing certain sensitive actions in your account.

**Note** – Passkeys are tied to individual log-ins and won’t affect your team’s access at a company level.
